Kengo [M / Japanese]


Kengo Watanabe worked for one of Japan's largest publishers, subsequently co-founding two independent music and sub-culture magazines with circulations of 50,000. An English graduate, he has extensive experience in English -> Japanese interpreting for some of the UK's best-known musicians, and has translated English youth culture novels like 'Disco Biscuits' into Japanese. He set up Tokyo-based indie label Frogman Records in 1993, and in 1996 created Tokyo/London-based frognation with Dai Sato and Lynn Robson. An experienced journalist, he has regular weekly/monthly columns in many of Tokyo's leading music, digital and culture magazines.



Dai [M / Japanese]

Dai Sato started as a runner at several of Tokyo's leading animation studios and TV stations before establishing a name for himself as a TV script-writer. He has collaborated with some of Japan's best-known anime writers, and used this experience in game development projects and interactive club events. He set up Tokyo-based indie label Frogman Records in 1993, and in 1996 he created Tokyo/London-based frognation with Kengo Watanabe and Lynn Robson. An experienced journalist, he has regular weekly/monthly columns in many of Tokyo's leading game and culture magazines.



Lynn [F / British]
Lynn Robson has an MBA qualification, and worked for an actuarial consultancy in the UK, before transferring to the Far East. She lectured in Business and English in Universities in Hong Kong and Japan, while studying for the Japanese Proficiency Exams. In 1996, she created Tokyo/London-based frognation with Kengo Watanabe and Dai Sato in Tokyo, before returning to the UK in the late 90s to set up frognation London, and oversee Frogman UK. She helped to found Women in Technology group DigitalEve in the UK, has worked on numerous game localisation projects, and a published author in Japan, is currently writing her fourth book.



Terna [M / British]

Terna Heuston-Jibo has extensive marketing, youth research and brand development experience, having worked for two years on a leading contextual and consumer brand strategy tool. He has worked on a number of qualitative and ethnographic research projects in the alcohol, soft drinks, clubbing and food sectors for a wide range of leading brands in the UK and USA. He is also a trained journalist specialising in music and contemporary youth culture and has written for Straight No Chaser, Dazed & Confused, Amazon.co.uk, Burnitblue.com, Hip Hop Connection, Jockey Slut and MixMag magazines, among others.




Mai [F / Japanese]

Mai Ichiki's first photography exhibition during high school, was covered extensively by local newspapers, and led to a collaboration in an art photography book call 'peep 75 PERSONS'. She worked as senior editor for CD-ROMS at IBM, and then joined satellite music channel SPACE SHOWER TV as an assistant director. In the Digital Content department she designed artists' websites, and incorporated streaming video for online music promos. She has designed many high profile mobile phone and broadband sites. Mai joined frognation as a designer in 2002.




Ryan [M / American]

Ryan Morris graduated in Japanese from the University of Washington, having studied as an exchange student at Osaka University in Japan, and qualified in Level One of the Japanese Proficiency Exams. His skill in Japanese and love of games has led to many high profile game localisation projects including Dragon Quest (ENIX), Ape Escape 2 (SCEE), Dark Cloud (SCEE), Space Channel 5 part 2 (SEGA), Shenmue (SEGA). He is an avid Mah Jong player, and plays at competition level in Japan.
